Be Thou My Vision Lyrics – Hymn

Be Thou My Vision Lyrics is an old Christian song from Ireland. The words come from a poem in Middle Irish, thought to be by Dallán Forgaill. The most well-known English version, with a few small changes, was translated in 1905 by Mary Elizabeth Byrne. Eleanor Hull turned it into verse, and it was published in 1912. Since 1919, people often sing it to an Irish folk tune called “Slane” in churches. It’s a popular hymn in the United Kingdom.

Be Thou My Vision Lyrics:

Be Thou my vision, O Lord of my heart
Naught be all else to me, save that Thou art
Thou my best thought, by day or by night
Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light

Be Thou my wisdom, and Thou my true Word
I ever with Thee and Thou with me, Lord
Thou my great Father and I, Thy true son
Thou in me dwelling, and I with Thee one

Riches I heed not, nor man’s empty praise
Thou mine inheritance, now and always
Thou and Thou only, first in my heart
O King of glory, my treasure Thou art

O King of glory, my victory won
Rule and reign in me ’til Thy will be done
Heart of my own heart, whatever befall
Still be my vision, O Ruler of all
